Hippy Pirate

Madison is a social butterfly. She loves having friends to play with. One evening we were playing in our backyard and noticed that kids were starting a game of Pirates. She just inched her way closer and closer until the kids were forced to bring that cute little girl into their game. Boy, was she happy to be a silent pirate that night. She talks about it everytime we go outside in the backyard!
Are there hippy pirates? Look at what a hippy Madi is. Dressed up in her shirt, headband, five necklaces, and about twenty bracelets. I think that is as hippy as you can get. Madison definitely takes after her Aunt Caitlyn.

Happy Memorial Day...

We had a fun day yesterday. We started our day off by watching Black Beauty as a family. Madison and Hyrum were both very interested in the movie because it was about horses. We then went to the park while Cory worked for a few hours. Then it was off to the beach. We were supposed to be going to a kid friendly beach with some friends of ours. But the beach turned out to be a beach with very BIG waves. So the kids weren't able to play in the water much. We still had a great time at the beach for an hour or so and then we went to our friend's community pool. The kids had a blast swimming in a calm pool. We enjoyed spending the day with friends and especially together as a family. It was a definite bonus that Cory was able to go with us. We were expecting him to be in the office all day. But it made it such a better day because we were all together as a family!!
The little beach bums...

Daddy made sure to get both of the kids out in the water with him. After Madison's taste of the water, she was perfectly content to shovel sand in her bucket.

Hyrum tried to go out in the water with daddy but he didn't like it too much once the huge wave toppled over him. So he just stuck to the beach. I couldn't get him to stop eating sand for the life of me!

This is my attempt at getting a picture of my family at the beach. Nobody wanted to cooperate with me. Oh well..

We Love Spaghetti

When we have spaghetti for dinner at our house I always strip the kids of all their clothes before we sit down to eat. Mommy doesn't like doing wash! ;) Hyrum usually will not eat Spaghetti. This night he must have been really hungry becuase he ate A LOT!

Madison, of course doesn't get as messy as Hyrum eating spaghetti. But it sure is her favorite dinner!

I know Hyrum isn't smiling in this picture. But I still think its super cute!

We all know how much Madison and Hyrum LOVE the park. But I have to confess that is difficult for me to have to same passion about taking them to the park when it is so hot outside and it takes a 15 minute walk to get there. Ok, I'm a complainer. So I tell the kids we go to the park on Fridays. Madison does not like this schedule of mine. She, unlike Hyrum, can voice her opinion about the park. She is a social butterfly and always wants to be playing with other little kids. And she knows there is no other place to go to find those friends than the park. So we are now making the hot walk more than once a week. But it makes my children so happy, that it is definitely worth it for me to come home dripping with sweat with two happy kids!

Hyrum feels like such a big boy since he learned how to play on the playground by himself.

I can't keep up with Madison once we get to the park. She was off making friends with the other kids there. So I had to get an action shot of her. She loves the slides.
Madison has taught Hyrum how to climb the slide. Hryum actually made it up to the top all by himself. I was so proud... He is such a monkey!

He's Back...

No teeth were found as an explanation for the crankiness for the last week. But we're here to tell you. He's back....
This is Hyrum's mug shot! He was having a little bit too much fun in the dirt! Funny kid!

Hyrum trying to run off with Madison's bicycle... even though he doesn't know how to get on himself.

Hyrum babbling on about who knows what?! I wish I knew!

I don't know what to call this face... its just down right FUNNY!

He's a sly one he is... he's probably headed for the dirt!

Who thought flowers would be so tasty?!
(I can't ever get this boy to keep things out of his mouth!)

One-on-One Time

Sometimes I notice I need to give both of my children a little one-on-one time during the day. Madison loves to take pictures. We giggled a lot trying to take some pictures of us together. Madison is such a fun little girl to be with.

I just love my Madison... we have so much fun together!

Is There A Doctor In The House?

While Madison and I were having fun Hyrum was being a cranky boy. This has become a regular occurrence in our house for the last week. Thursday Hyrum had a low-grade fever for a few days and since then has still been cranky as ever. He isn't showing any signs that he's sick at all. No ear pulling no NOTHIN'. But I have to tell you, its driving me crazy not having my normal child living in my house. He won't sleep very well either. Hyrum usually sleeps like a charm. But the last few days he screams when I put him down. Last night I put him down at 7 and with very hard work I finally got him to sleep in my arms at 9. (He normally falls asleep on his own.) I am hoping that maybe he's teething.? That's the only thing I could think of. He is 10 months old without a single tooth in that mouth of his. I hope whatever this is that is bothering Hyrum will pass soon. Is there a doctor in the house?

Hyrum: Mischief

"Busted!"

As you can see there is a baby proof lock on the cupboard. This means diddly squat to Hyrum!
(He also gets into the bathroom and rolls all the toilet paper off of the roll... so kind! That's the beauty of being able to get to a standing position by yourself and being left alone for one minute.)
Hyrum is sure giving me a run for my money!

Curious Boy

Hyrum is an active little guy. This is what happens when I try to take cute pictures of him.
You can barely see his little face behind his hand.
Hyrum wants to be the one taking the pictures these days.

I just thought this was cute video of Hyrum in action trying to take the camera away from me. Yes, he does have a mo hawk today. I am having difficulties trying to get his hair to part. Those darn cowlicks! He has one cowlick on the front left and one in the back right. So his hair always goes straight down the middle. So today, we just let him be free.

Howdy Partner

Madison loves dressing up! Grandma got her a cowboy costumejust so Daddy would have fun playing dressups too. Daddy can only handle so many Princess dresses! Madison sure is a cute cowgirl!
Daddy came into her room and started up a round of baseball!

I've never seen a baseball game played with a vacuum hose and a beach ball before. Madison was really good. Daddy must have taught her well!
